Masters of Fine Art, Applied Craft Design Micro Site

When Portland's Oregon College of Art and Craft and the Pacific Northwest College of Art needed support for their new joint Masters of Fine Art in Applied Craft Design program, they turned to Grey Media to develop and build a "micro web site." The site launched in November 2009.

Grey Media teamed with designer and college instructor Marth Lewis to specify, design, build, and launch the site. The design is clean and elegant, with minimal content and clutter. Images that reflect the dynamic nature of an educational institution change on every page. The site was developed to make it easy for program staff or student interns to update it with minimal fuss.

Alaska Hardy Web Site

This project for Fritz Creek Gardens of Homer, Alaska, introduced a MySQL database-driven online catalog into an existing design and was launched in May 2008. This replaced a series of hand-coded pages, which was time consuming to update and unwieldy to navigate.

CriderAmericas Web Site

Grey Media worked with this manufacturing company in Austin, Texas, to develop a very product-oriented web site. What is particularly interesting about this site is that the English language version is replicated entirely in Spanish. This company does a lot of business in the Southwest United States and in Mexico and Central America.

We worked with a professional translator to develop the Spanish language portal. The site has technical industry-specific terminology. Indeed, we used Spanish language usage for common web site terminology: "site map," "home page," "submit form," error messages, and the like. We also designed a logical navigation system, so that from any page in either language portal, users easily can find their way around the site.

In today's bilingual and multicultural world, web sites increasingly need to be accessible to users from different backgrounds, languages, and ethnicities. Grey Media also has built web sites that were required by contract to be accessible to visually impaired persons.
